Replace your gas water heater with a heat pump water heater. The $4,000 WestLight Energy rebate and a 0% loan cover the price, so you pay nothing at install and repay on your PG&E bill. Add a heat pump for heating and cooling at the same time and the water heater is only $999.

  • $4,000 rebate until Oct 31. Installs completed by Oct 31, 2026; $3,500 after. Taken off your price, no check to wait for.
  • 0% for up to 5 years. No credit check, no fees.
  • We do the paperwork. Rebate, loan documents, permit and inspection.
  • Online price locked for 14 days. Request today, decide on your schedule.

Limited install slots each month. Online prices aren't guaranteed once the schedule is full.

Panel near capacity? A 120V plug-in model or a shared dryer circuit avoids a panel upgrade. Pick it in the calculator.

Why homeowners choose Mihas HVAC

The owner does the work

Mihas HVAC is a small, owner-operated, licensed C-20 HVAC contractor (CSLB #1149214) based in South San Francisco. The person who quotes your job is the person who installs it.

WestLight Energy approved

We're an approved contractor in the WestLight Energy program, so eligible projects may qualify for the 0% loan, subject to WestLight Energy program approval, and we know exactly what documents WestLight needs.

One contractor, whole project

Water heater, the circuit for it, permit, and the rebate and loan paperwork. Add a heat pump and we do both. You don't coordinate trades or chase paperwork.

Warranty on our work

Every heat pump install includes our workmanship warranty: 1 year on Economy, 2 years on Standard, 3 years on Premium systems.

What the price includes

Included

  • 50-gal 240V heat pump water heater in the same spot as your current one, in a garage or a room large enough for it. Your quote names the exact model.
  • Removal of the old water heater, gas line capped, flue sealed
  • New 240V circuit up to 20 ft from the panel
  • Condensate drain and T&P relief line up to 20 ft
  • Expansion tank and seismic straps
  • Permit
  • WestLight rebate and loan paperwork

Quoted separately if needed

  • Electrical panel upgrade or subpanel
  • Moving the water heater to a new spot, or re-routing water pipes
  • Louvered door or ducting for a small room
  • Drain pan and vehicle protection in a garage
  • Wiring or drain line beyond the included lengths
  • Other sizes, or a 120V plug-in model: pick it in the calculator

Add a heat pump for heating and cooling

Replace your gas furnace at the same time: the water heater drops to $4,999 (only $999 after the $4,000 rebate), and the heat pump gets its own $1,500 WestLight rebate. Example with a 1.5-ton ducted heat pump: $999 upfront, then $166.67/mo for both. Pick it in the calculator, or see the heat pump offer.

Questions

How does the 14-day price lock work?

When you send your estimate, we email you your online price and the exact date it ends, 14 days later. Sign by that date and you get that price for the water heater and options in your estimate. After that, the regular price applies. Each home and email gets one online price lock.

Is the $4,000 rebate really available?

Yes, for a heat pump water heater replacing a gas, propane, or oil water heater in an existing San Mateo County home, installed by Oct 31, 2026. From Nov 1 the rebate is $3,500. The rebate can’t exceed the installed cost, and WestLight Energy pays it directly to us, so it comes off your price.

Is the loan really 0%?

Yes. The WestLight Energy loan is 0% interest with no fees and no credit check: up to $10,000 over 2 to 5 years, repaid on your monthly PG&E bill.

Will a heat pump water heater fit where my gas water heater is?

Usually, in a garage or a room large enough for it; the unit is taller than a gas tank. A small closet needs a louvered door or ducting for air, which we quote separately. We confirm the spot at the free site visit.

Panel full or near capacity? How we avoid an upgrade

Depending on your panel, we can install a 120V plug-in water heater that uses far less capacity, or share your electric dryer’s circuit with the water heater. If an upgrade is still needed, it’s quoted separately with a $1,000 WestLight bonus rebate.

What size do I need?

Most homes with a 40- or 50-gal gas tank go to a 50-gal heat pump water heater, our base price. Pick 40, 65 or 80 gal in the calculator if your household is smaller or larger; we confirm the size at the estimate.

Should I add the heat pump now?

If your furnace is due, yes: the water heater drops to $4,999 (only $999 after the rebate), the heat pump gets its own $1,500 rebate, and one loan up to $10,000 covers both. Add it in the calculator to see the combined price.

How do I know if I’m a WestLight Energy customer?

Check your PG&E bill. If it lists WestLight Energy for electric generation, you’re a customer.

I’m outside San Mateo County. Can I still get this price?

Yes, the installation price is the same. WestLight Energy rebates and the 0% loan are only for WestLight Energy customers.

Why isn’t the exact model listed?

Equipment availability changes. Your final quote names the exact model and its certified efficiency rating.
