Your furnace
Type
A wall furnace heats from a grille in the wall and has no ducts.
Size
Look for “Input” BTU on the label inside the furnace door. We confirm the right size at the visit.
Efficiency
80% vents through a metal flue like most older furnaces. 96% turns more of the gas into heat and needs plastic vent pipes and a condensate drain; we check the venting at the visit.
Burner
Two-stage runs on low most of the time: quieter, with more even temperatures.
Equipment
Options

Prices are for a standard replacement and are confirmed at a free site visit. Asbestos, duct and gas line work, and vent liners are quoted separately if needed.

Two lines, one install standard

Both lines come in 80% or 96% efficiency, one-stage or two-stage, from 40,000 to 120,000 BTU. The installation is the same; the difference is the equipment and how fast we can install it.

Base: ACiQ

Our value line. It ships from the distributor in Sacramento, so we install about a week after you approve.

Premium: Bryant

Stocked by our local supplier. We install 1–2 days after you approve the estimate and pay the deposit.

Wall furnaces: we replace them with Williams wall furnaces, usually in about half a day.

How we install every furnace

When you compare estimates, compare what’s done around the furnace. This is our standard on every replacement.

  • Return air cleaned before the new furnace goes in
  • New filter box
  • Sediment trap on the gas line
  • Fused disconnect at the furnace
  • New vent pipe
  • Mastic on every duct joint and plenum
  • New insulation on the connections we make

Noise Reduction Package

An option for furnaces in an attic, above a bedroom, or next to living space.

What we do

  • Vibration isolation for the furnace and the ducts. In an attic, the furnace sits on isolation pads or hangs from the joists.
  • A longer or larger return, so air moves more slowly and quietly.

Price

Priced at the site visit, after we see the furnace location and the return.

Questions

Can I still install a gas furnace in the Bay Area?

Yes. Under Bay Area Air District rules, gas furnaces manufactured after January 1, 2029 must be zero-NOx to be sold or installed here. Existing furnaces don’t have to be replaced, and a standard gas furnace can be installed today. Rules can change; we follow the current ones.

80% or 96% efficiency?

An 80% furnace vents through a metal flue, usually the one you already have, and costs less. A 96% furnace turns more of the gas into heat and lowers your gas use, but it needs plastic vent pipes to the outside and a condensate drain. We check at the visit whether that venting can be run in your home.

One-stage or two-stage?

A one-stage furnace is either fully on or off. A two-stage furnace runs on low most of the time and switches to high on the coldest days, so it’s quieter and keeps temperatures more even. It costs more.

How long does the installation take?

Most central furnaces take 1 to 2 days. A wall furnace usually takes about half a day.

How soon can you install?

Premium (Bryant) furnaces are installed 1 to 2 days after you approve the estimate and pay the deposit. Base (ACiQ) furnaces ship from Sacramento, so installation is about a week after you approve.

How does the Fix-First Credit work?

Book a repair visit: $49 in South San Francisco, $99 in San Francisco, Daly City and Pacifica. If we can’t fix your furnace, you pay nothing. If we fix it and you replace the furnace with us within 6 months, what you paid for the visit and the repair comes off the new furnace, up to $500. Repairs come with a 1-year warranty.

What if there’s asbestos?

Older furnaces and ducts sometimes have asbestos tape or insulation. We work with an abatement partner and quote the removal separately before any work starts.

Do you pull a permit?

Yes, on request. The permit is quoted separately, and we meet the inspector.

How do I pay?

A 10% deposit when you approve the estimate, never more than $1,000. The deposit is how we order your furnace.

Can you come in the evening or on a weekend?

Yes, on request. Weekend repair visits cost twice the regular visit fee.
